What is Paella?

Paella is a Spanish cuisine originally from a region in Spain called Valencia. The meaning of Paella seems to differ between regions; in Valencian it means "Frying Pan", but, in other parts of Spain some say it is a shortened version of "Para Ella" meaning "for her". This is in reference to the fact that men, who wouldn't usually cook, would cook for their partner since this is a dish you can leave for an extended period of time. It cooks itself!
