Shoo, Fly, Don’t Bother Me! | #CoquiTips

That’s the echoing sound we hear of oils and repellents slapped hastily against our skin, our arms, our legs, in our everlasting battles against pesky bugs.

It’s summertime and for us kids that means endless fun and lots of activities! But this is also the time when bugs of all species buzz out or crawl creepily in swarms to feast on us. As an advocate of natural remedies, I, Coqui the Chef, offer you some amazing solutions that goes beyond a splat on the wrist, so to speak. All can be found at your local Farmer’s Market.

1) ROSEMARY

With its needle-like leaves, this herb can be used to protect against fleas and ticks.

2) LAVENDER

This flowering plant is the inspiration behind the color Lavender. It is normally used in oils and can be helpful in repelling moths, fleas, flies and mosquitoes.

3) BASIL

Got mosquitoes and houseflies buzzing about? Try using Basil! This culinary herb has the power to ward off these bugs.

4) MARIGOLD

Marigolds aren’t only pleasing to the eye; these large, orange blossoms protect against mosquitoes and aphids.

5) CATNIP

Who would have thought that catnip isn’t only for cats. Say goodbye to mosquitoes with this plant.

6) PEPPERMINT

Are spiders and ants crawling around and mosquitoes buzzing in your ears? Peppermint is a quick remedy!
